3. People who are cool with bombing and torturing people in other countries
will have no problem with killing and torturing people here.

I don't put it past the 1% at all to try. What I question is how much of the military and police will go with them. But that's why they have Blackwater.

4. Martin Luther King? Democratic convention of 1968? Kent State? Rodney King?
What, exactly, do you require in terms of death & destruction to acknowledge the brave souls who have fought for our rights only to be declared enemies of the USA on our own soil?

on our fellow peaceful, helpless citizens are legitimitized and downplayed by the media so the people accept it, it certainly could happen here. Don't ever say it can't.

6. Depends on how things go
Why far-fetched? Because we're nicer people than those other guys? The question lies in how broken the system in fact is. So far, there seems to be little responsiveness coming out of our government, and increasing repression of legitimate protest. Manifestly the soi-disant 1% has little or no need of the other 99%, since they can get their profits and goodies elsewhere. They do, however, seem to be getting increasingly frustrated with the OWS movement, as the increasing levels of oppression indicate. What makes you think they won't lose their tempers altogether?

12. A few thousand people have been killed in Syria since March 2011
Edited on Thu Nov-24-11 01:07 AM by Tx4obama

NOTHING like that is happening here in the USA.

Yes, we have grass-root protests going on and there has been police brutality at some of the protest locations, BUT the massive number of killings that the Syria civilians are experiencing is NOT happening here in the USA.
