Poll question: Me and MSNBC...
re: Keith.

(keeping in mind that although you may not have cable or MSNBC on the system that you do have, the programs are available on the MSNBC site and some on iTunes)

5. I'm kind of hoping that Rachel...
will quit in protest and that someone else will hire her and Keith (and Lawrence and Ed, and whoever else wants to join in). This whole thing just sickens me.

36. I love her show also, but Keith is the one who got her that job.
He was the one who made MSNBC worth watching again after they fired several other progressive personalities, like Ashley Banfield who was also brilliant and Donohue.

So, I won't be watching Rachel and if I were her, I would be watching my back. If the silenced Ashley Banfield, they will eventually silence Rachel.

9. don't know
see how things shape up. After J Stew marched for nothing, I lost interest in his show and drifted away from CC. They still have solid broadcasters, but I imagine I could drift away as I find the last word a little too heavy for me right after work. I liked KO because he was a little heavy, a little fun. The real MSNBC news kind of came on after him. I guess they want to be more news, less show. Time will tell.

I am going to pick up a HDTV converter and see if I can get basic channels on that, and then plan to get the rest online. I am 90% sure I will be canceling cable tomorrow. Next, I will have to look into satellite for internet.

as their star talent. I heard Rachel is a drunk and she is the only star left. And lets face it, only liberals like her, she is hated by just about anyone else.

CNN is the only halfway decent news channel around.

I'm not going to put you on ignore, you didn't say anything that was offensive really.

And yes, many times intellectual and educated people, gay or not, like to drink. Its no crime. You act as if its some kind of crime if she does drink a lot. Where are you from anyway, the midwest?

40. I am taking nothing personally. Here is the deal.
While Keith likely just cashed into untold millions for the cancellation of his contract (regardless of who initiated it), WE here at DU do NOT need to start the lynch mob that goes after anyone else.

I am glad that you didn't take my remarks as personally offensive, as no offence to you was intended. Regardless, I reported my post to the mods so if it disappears, take it that they disagree with us about my heated rhetoric.

I have never met Rachel, but respect her greatly for what she brings to the public conversation.

To answer your question, I was proudly born and raised in the Northeast and reside there today by choice (damn snow).

However; If I may draw from my time spent in the south, "Son/ma'am, 'round these parts, we don't 'cotton to folk talkin' shit outta turn 'bout people 'n kin without solid proof in they assertations"

Have a good night.

59. A completely baseless accusation. Post your source or go back to Freep and stay there.

Maddow does an awesome job. Even if she's a drunk, thats immaterial to the fact that she's second only to Keith as a voice for "the left". Those on the Right Wing only hate her because she represents everything their bigoted, ignorant minds fear the most.

17. Other. I love Rachel, and am happy for Cenk getting the opportunity at 6pm
If Keith broke (or agreed to break) his contract because of Neuman and Comcast's takeover, then I call it personal. I have quit jobs after takeovers by overlord assholes before too.

Time will tell, but I remain favorable of Cenk, Ed, Rachel and Keith - and may they each find their niche.

I damn sure will miss him and his voice of reason though.

27. Agreed wholeheartedly. LOVE Rachel especially, and now I feel almost as though
she's all we have. Yeah Ed and Lawrence (who my husband just hates - probably for the condescension), glad they're on, and I'm also glad that Cenk is being elevated, if only because we desperately need more bench strength in left-of-center hosts. PARTICULARLY now that Keith's gone.

But shit - No Keith. Which means there will be no end of cackling and high-fiving all over the wrong-wing/teabagger world. I HATE HATE HATE to see them with a "win," even a twistedly-perceived/alleged one.

45. I certainly share your feelings.
I started following both Rachel and Ed by listening to their radio shows. I was thrilled for both of them when MSNBC picked them up. But Keith has always been the standard bearer. Rachel got her start when she began subbing for Keith (and she said on her radio show how nervous she was, if you can believe that, watching her today... ;) ) And Lawrence began the same way, became KO's best and permanent sub. AAR went downhill when they lost Al Franken and then Randi, so I fear for the future of MSNBC's standards with the loss of KO, who made it possible for the kind of programming that we all enjoy today. ;(

As for Cenk, I make it a point to watch when he's on. I love that he's as outspoken on MSNBC as he is on TYT. But I wonder if he'll be allowed to continue in the same vein. I fear that we've lost something valuable and irreplaceable tonight. ;(
